Artistic Director of Kanopy Dance Company &
Co-Director of Kanopy School for Contemporary Dance and Choreography
Before I can remember. Dance is a need for me – I have to do it. It is a communication and expression of the landscape of the human soul and heart.
A few of your favorite things…
My favorite movie is the original version of “The Producers” with Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder. Earth Wind and Fire songs make me happy. My husband and Co-Director of Kanopy is my love of my life and my doggie is my boy!
Is there a crossroads between dance and yoga?
Yes, certainly — the vibrancy, energetics all come in to play. Physical, mental and spiritual awareness.
Best seat in the house?
My window. We’re sort of up high, so when I look out, I feel like I am in the sky…up in the clouds.

To unwind, I go on long walks with my dog and my husband.
If you were a phrase, which would you be?
“I believe that we learn by practice. Whether it means to learn to dance by practicing dancing or to learn to live by practicing living…it is the performance of a dedicated precise set of acts, physical or intellectual, from which comes shape of achievement, a sense of one’s being, a satisfaction of spirit.”
Ah yes…the tea. What else?
What do I love about The Studio? The teachers, the directors, the feeling of warmth and welcome, the other students from all walks of life, the aesthetic beauty…oh and the tea!
From where do you draw inspiration?
The synergy of life experiences and from inspiration from nature and art –visual art, music, poetry, literature…history, science…it’s endless… to be curious, to always seek…
