In depth alignment for the pelvis and legs in introductory standing poses
Cultivating a relationship with the alignment in basic yoga postures can translate into gold as we progress into more advanced shapes and movements. Everything that we need to know about all poses is built in the basics and the basics are where we cultivate greater sensitivity, awareness and capacity for refinement.
In this series, we will explore the alignment of the feet and ankles, lower and upper legs, knees, hips and pelvis in great detail with particular focus placed on Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle), Trikonasana (Triangle) and Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon). We will look at the ways in which our understanding of the form and actions in other postures translates into these shapes and vice versa. And, as ever, we will utilize the presence of mind cultivated through the practice of alignment with awareness as a means for abiding in a state of connection with ourselves and one another.
