A guided practice and discussion on mindfulness of the belly
Digestion is at the core of the body and may be a challenge for many of us. From a yogic perspective, it can be a vehicle for mindfulness and healing as we learn to listen and interpret the language of the body.
This workshop will incorporate both practice and discussion. Yoga postures will delve into the abdomen and the experience of being grounded in the navel center. Explore your belly with self-massage and Marma points for the digestive organs. These techniques come from Ayurveda, the tradition of natural healing from India that is a sister science to Yoga. We will discuss digestion from an Ayurvedic perspective and learn strategies to kindle Agni, our digestive fire. Deepen your body awareness with breathing techniques and mindfulness practice.
While we acknowledge that yoga is not a cure-all for health problems, there are many ways that yoga practice and deeper body awareness contribute directly to digestive balance.
